حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُصْطَلِقِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَخِي زَيْنَبَ امْرَأَةِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ قَالَتْ

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ، تَصَدَّقْنَ وَلَوْ مِنْ حُلِيِّكُنَّ فَإِنَّكُنَّ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ جَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ. قَالَتْ: وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ رَجُلًا خَفِيفَ ذَاتِ الْيَدِ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: سَلْ لِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيَجْزِي عَنِّي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ النَّفَقَةُ عَلَى زَوْجِي وَأَيْتَامٍ فِي حَجْرِي ؟ قَالَتْ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ أُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَهَابَةُ. فَقَالَ: اذْهَبِي أَنْتِ فَاسْأَلِيهِ. قَالَتْ: فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى بَابِهِ، فَإِذَا عَلَيْهِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ اسْمُهَا زَيْنَبُ حَاجَتِي حَاجَتُهَا. قَالَتْ: فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا بِلَالٌ، قَالَتْ: فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: سَلْ لَنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيَجْزِي عَنَّا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ النَّفَقَةُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِنَا وَأَيْتَامٍ فِي حُجُورِنَا ؟ قَالَتْ: فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ بِلَالٌ. فَقَالَ: عَلَى الْبَابِ زَيْنَبُ، فَقَالَ: أَيُّ الزَّيَانِبِ ؟ قَالَتْ: فَقَالَ: زَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَزَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ تَسْأَلَانِكَ عَنِ النَّفَقَةِ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمَا وَأَيْتَامٍ فِي حُجُورِهِمَا، أَيَجْزِي ذَلِكَ عَنْهُمَا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ؟ قَالَتْ: فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَهُمَا أَجْرَانِ: أَجْرُ الْقَرَابَةِ، وَأَجْرُ الصَّدَقَةِ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ addressed us and said: “O assembly of women, give charity, even from your jewelry, for you are the majority of the people of Hell on the Day of Resurrection.” She said: ‘Abdullah was a man of light means, so I said to him: “Ask the Messenger of God ﷺ for me whether spending on my husband and orphans in my care counts as charity for me.” She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ had an aura of awe cast upon him. So he said: “You go and ask him.” She said: So I went and reached his door, and there was a woman from the Ansar named Zaynab whose need was the same as mine. She said: Bilal came out to us. She said: We said to him: “Ask the Messenger of God ﷺ for us whether spending on our husbands and orphans in our care counts as charity for us.” She said: Bilal entered upon him and said: “At the door is Zaynab.” He said: “Which Zaynab?” She said: He said: “Zaynab the wife of ‘Abdullah, and Zaynab a woman from the Ansar, asking you about spending on their husbands and orphans in their care, whether that counts as charity for them.” She said: He came out to us and said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ said: ‘They have two rewards: the reward of kinship and the reward of charity.’”
