✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon her on the day of the conquest, and a drink was brought to him, and he drank. Then he handed it to me, and I said: "I am fasting." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "The voluntary faster is a commander over himself, so if you wish, fast; and if you wish, break your fast."

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī

machine translationJaʿdah did not hear it from Umm Hāniʾ, and at other times [he narrated it] from Hārūn.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 27498
  • Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī

machine translationThis hadith has inconsistency (iḍṭirāb) in both its text and its chain. As for the inconsistency of its chain, Simāk differed about it: at times he narrated it from Abū Ṣāliḥ, at times from Jaʿdah, and at times from Hārūn. As for Abū Ṣāliḥ, he is Bādhān, also called Bādhām; they declared him weak (ḍaʿīf).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 27498

machine translationThere is disagreement in its chain, and disagreement in its wording.
