✧ Khalid b. al-Walid entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Maymunah bt. al-Harith, who was his maternal aunt. A lizard meat was presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, brought by Umm Hufayd bt. al-Harith from Najd. She was married to a man from the Banu Ja'far. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not eat anything until he knew what it was. Some of the women said, 'Will you not tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he is eating?' So she told him that it was lizard meat, and he left it. Khalid said, 'I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Is it forbidden?"' He said, 'No, but it is a food not found among my people, and I find myself averse to it.' Khalid said, 'So I pulled it toward me and ate it while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was watching.'
