حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءٌ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ

جَعَلَتْ شَعَائِرَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فِي رَقَبَتِهَا، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا، فَقُلْتُ: أَلَا تَنْظُرُ إِلَى زِينَتِهَا ؟ فَقَالَ: عَنْ زِينَتِكِ أُعْرِضُ ! قَالَ: زَعَمُوا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: مَا ضَرَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ لَوْ جَعَلَتْ خُرْصًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَتْهُ بِزَعْفَرَانٍ

Translation

✧ She put hair strands of gold on her neck. The Prophet ﷺ entered and turned away from her. I said: Will you not look at her adornment? He said: It is from your adornment that I turn away! He said: They claimed that he said: What would it harm one of you if she made a ring of silver and then dyed it with saffron?
