✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah when it was an unhealthy place. It was mentioned that fever struck them, and Abu Bakr fell ill. When fever seized him, he would say: 'Every man is greeted in the morning among his family, while death is nearer to him than his sandal strap.' She said: 'When fever seized Bilal, he would say: "Would that I knew whether I will spend a night in a valley with idhkhir and jalil around me, and whether I will one day go down to the waters of Majannah, and whether Shamat and Tafil will appear to me. O Allah, curse Utbah b. Rabiah, Shaybah b. Rabiah, and Umayyah b. Khalaf, as they drove us out of Makkah."' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw what they were suffering, he said: 'O Allah, make Madinah dear to us as dear as Makkah or dearer. O Allah, make it healthy, bless us in its sa' and mudd, and transfer its fever to al-Juhfah.' He said: 'A child born in al-Juhfah would not reach puberty before fever struck him down.'
