حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ بَرِيرَةَ كَانَتْ مُكَاتَبَةً، وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا مَمْلُوكًا، فَلَمَّا أُعْتِقَتْ خُيِّرَتْ.

Translation

Chain of narrators

✧ Barirah was a mukatabah (slave with a contract to purchase her freedom), and her husband was a slave. When she was freed, she was given the choice.
