✧ The Prophet ﷺ said during the illness in which he died: 'Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer.' I said, 'If Abu Bakr stands in your place, the people will not hear him because of weeping.' He said, 'Tell Abu Bakr.' So I said to Hafsah, 'Say: Abu Bakr will not make the people hear because of weeping; if only you would command 'Umar.' He said, 'You are like the companions of Yusuf. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer.' Hafsah turned to me and said, 'I never expected any good from you.'
