✧ I spent the night with my maternal aunt Maymūnah bt. al-Ḥārith. The Prophet ﷺ got up during the night, went to relieve himself, then came and washed his face and hands, then slept. Then he got up during the night, went to the water-skin and loosened its tie, then performed a moderate ablution, not excessive, yet thorough. Then he stood to pray. I stretched as if waking, disliking that he should see me; I had been waiting for him. Then I got up and did as he had done, and stood at his left. He took hold of my ear and turned me around so that I was on his right, while he was praying. His prayer came to thirteen rakʿahs, including the two rakʿahs of Fajr. Then he lay down and slept until he snored. Then Bilāl came and informed him of the prayer, and he got up and prayed without performing ablution.
