✧ We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to coincide with the new moon of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever wishes to enter iḥrām for ʿUmrah, let him do so; and whoever wishes to enter iḥrām for Hajj, let him do so. Were it not that I have brought a sacrificial animal, I would have entered iḥrām for ʿUmrah.' She said: Some of them entered iḥrām for ʿUmrah, and some for Hajj. I was among those who entered iḥrām for ʿUmrah. Then I menstruated before entering Makkah, and the day of ʿArafah came upon me while I was menstruating. I complained about that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: 'Abandon your ʿUmrah, undo your hair, comb it, and enter iḥrām for Hajj.' So I did that. Then on the night of al-Ḥaṣbah, he sent ʿAbd al-Raḥmān with me to al-Tanʿīm, and he mounted her behind him, and she entered iḥrām for ʿUmrah in place of her ʿUmrah. Thus Allah, Mighty and Majestic, fulfilled her Hajj and her ʿUmrah, and there was no sacrificial animal, fasting, or charity required in any of that.

machine translationSomeone else claimed that this is a mistake on the part of ʿUrwah, and that the correct version is the narration of al-Aswad, al-Qāsim and ʿAmrah from her, that she entered the state of iḥrām for Ḥajj alone (ifrād).
