✧ We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys. When we were at al-Bayda' or Dhat al-Jaysh, a necklace of mine broke. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped to search for it, and the people stopped with him. They were not near water, and they had no water with them. The people came to Abu Bakr and said: 'Do you not see what Aishah has done? She has caused the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people to stop, and they are not near water and have no water with them.' Abu Bakr came while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had placed his head on my thigh and had fallen asleep. He said: 'You have detained the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people, and they are not near water and have no water with them.' She said: 'Abu Bakr scolded me and said whatever Allah willed him to say, and he began poking my side with his hand. Nothing prevented me from moving except the position of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on my thigh. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept until morning came upon the people without water. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed the verse of tayammum, so they performed tayammum.' Usayd b. al-Hudayr said: 'This is not the first of your blessings, O family of Abu Bakr.' She said: 'Then we made the camel I was riding stand up, and we found the necklace beneath it.'
