حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَنْظَلَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ سَابِطٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
أَبْطَأْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مَا حَبَسَكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ ؟ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ رَجُلًا مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَحْسَنَ قِرَاءَةً مِنْهُ، قَالَ: فَذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا هُوَ سَالِمٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي أُمَّتِي مِثْلَكَ.

✧ She said: "I was delayed in coming to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'What kept you, O A'ishah?' I said: 'O Messenger of God, there is a man in the mosque whose recitation I have never heard anyone better than.' She said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ went and found that it was Salim, the freedman of Abu Hudhayfah. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Praise be to God who has placed in my community someone like you."'
