✧ The day of Ashura was a day that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast in the pre-Islamic period, and Quraysh used to fast it in the pre-Islamic period. When the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah, he fasted it and ordered its fasting. When Ramadan was revealed, Ramadan became the obligatory fast, and he left off Ashura.
