✧ Abu Bakr asked permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was lying on his bed wearing Aishah's cloak. He granted Abu Bakr permission while he was in that state, and Abu Bakr finished his business with him and then left. Then Umar asked permission, and he granted him permission while he was in that same state, and Umar finished his business with him and then left. Uthman said: Then I asked permission to enter upon him, and he sat up and said to Aishah, "Gather your clothes around you." Then I finished my business with him and left. Aishah said, "O Messenger of Allah, why did I not see you alarmed for Abu Bakr and Umar as you were alarmed for Uthman?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Uthman is a shy man, and I feared that if I granted him permission in that state, he would not be able to tell me his need." Layth said: A group of people said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Aishah, "Should I not feel shy before one before whom the angels feel shy?"
