حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الطَّاعُونِ ؟ فَأَخْبَرَهَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابًا يَبْعَثُهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى مَنْ يَشَاءُ، فَجَعَلَهُ اللهُ رَحْمَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَلَيْسَ مِنْ عَبْدٍ وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ فِي بَلَدِهِ، فَيَمْكُثُ فِي بَلَدِهِ صَابِرًا مُحْتَسِبًا يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ لَنْ يُصِيبَهُ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ، إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ شَهِيدٍ.

✧ She asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the plague. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ informed her that it was a punishment which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sends upon whom He wills, and Allah made it a mercy for the believers. There is no servant in whose land the plague occurs, and he remains in his land patiently, seeking reward, knowing that nothing will befall him except what Allah has decreed for him, but that he will have the like of the reward of a martyr.
