حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمُ بْنُ أَخْضَرَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أُمِّ مُحَمَّدٍ امْرَأَةِ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
كَانَتْ عِنْدَنَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عِنْدَ جُنْحِ اللَّيْلِ قَالَتْ فَذَكَرْتُ شَيْئًا صَنَعَهُ بِيَدِهِ قَالَتْ وَجَعَلَ لَا يَفْطِنُ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ وَجَعَلْتُ أُومِئُ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى فَطَنَ قَالَتْأُمُّ سَلَمَةَ أَهَكَذَا الْآنَ أَمَا كَانَ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنَّا عِنْدَكَ إِلَّا فِي خِلَابَةٍ كَمَا أَرَى وَسَبَّتْ عَائِشَةَ وَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَنْهَاهَا فَتَأْبَى فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سُبِّيهَا فَسَبَّتْهَا حَتَّى غَلَبَتْهَا فَانْطَلَقَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ سَبَّتْهَا وَقَالَتْ لَكُمْ وَقَالَتْ لَكُمْ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ لِفَاطِمَةَ اذْهَبِي إِلَيْهِ فَقُولِي إِنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ لَنَا وَقَالَتْ لَنَا فَأَتَتْهُ فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّهَا حِبَّةُ أَبِيكِ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ فَرَجَعَتْ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ فَذَكَرَتْ لَهُ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهَا فَقَالَ أَمَا كَفَاكَ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالَتْ لَنَا عَائِشَةُ وَقَالَتْ لَنَا حَتَّى أَتَتْكَ فَاطِمَةُ فَقُلْتَ لَهَا إِنَّهَا حِبَّةُ أَبِيكِ وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ

✧ Umm Salamah was with us, and the Prophet ﷺ came at the fall of night. She said: I mentioned something he had done with his hand. She said: He began not to notice Umm Salamah. She said: I began to gesture to him until he noticed. Umm Salamah said: Is it so now? Was there not one of us with you except in deception, as I see? And she reviled ʿĀʾishah. The Prophet ﷺ began to forbid her, but she refused. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: Revile her. So she reviled her until she overcame her. Then Umm Salamah went to ʿAlī and Fāṭimah and said: ʿĀʾishah reviled her, and she said about you, and she said about you. ʿAlī said to Fāṭimah: Go to him and say that ʿĀʾishah said about us and said about us. So she came to him and mentioned that to him. The Prophet ﷺ said to her: She is the beloved of your father, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah. So she returned to ʿAlī and told him what he said to her. He said: Is it not enough for you that ʿĀʾishah said about us and said about us, until Fāṭimah came to you, and you said to her: She is the beloved of your father, by the Lord of the Kaʿbah?
