حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ
كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، ثُمَّ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الْإِنَاءِ فَيَتَتَبَّعُ أُصُولَ شَعَرِهِ، فَإِذَا ظَنَّ أَنْ قَدِ اسْتَبْرَأَ الْبَشَرَةَ كُلَّهَا, أَفْرَغَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ
Translation

✧ He would perform wudu when he wanted to perform ghusl from janabah, like his wudu for prayer. Then he would put his hand into the vessel and trace the roots of his hair. When he thought that he had thoroughly wetted the entire skin, he would pour [water] over his head three times, then perform ghusl.
