حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَ ذُكِرَ لَهَا
ذُكِرَ لَهَا أَنَّ نَاسًا يَقْرَؤُونَ الْقُرْآنَ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ - فَقَالَتْ: أُولَئِكَ قَرَؤُوا وَلَمْ يَقْرَؤُوا، كُنْتُ أَقُومُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ التِّمَامَ، فَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِسُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ وَآلِ عِمْرَانَ وَالنِّسَاءِ، فَلَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا تَخَوُّفٌ إِلَّا دَعَا اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَاسْتَعَاذَ، وَلَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا اسْتِبْشَارٌ إِلَّا دَعَا اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَرَغِبَ إِلَيْهِ

✧ It was mentioned to her that some people recite the Quran once or twice in a night. She said: "Those have recited but not truly recited. I used to stand with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for the entire night, and he would recite Surah al-Baqarah, Al Imran, and an-Nisa. He would not pass by a verse containing fear except that he supplicated to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and sought refuge, and he would not pass by a verse containing glad tidings except that he supplicated to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and desired from Him."
