حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ

اسْتُحِيضَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ, وَهِيَ تَحْتَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ، فَشَكَتْ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: إِنَّ هَذَا لَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عِرْقٌ، فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَدَعِي الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَاغْتَسِلِي ثُمَّ صَلِّي. قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: فَكَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي، وَكَانَتْ تَقْعُدُ فِي مِرْكَنٍ لِأُخْتِهَا زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ، حَتَّى إِنَّ حُمْرَةَ الدَّمِ لَتَعْلُو الْمَاءَ

✧ Umm Habibah bt. Jahsh experienced prolonged bleeding while she was married to 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf for seven years. She complained about that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'This is not menstruation; rather, it is a vein. When the menstrual period comes, stop praying; and when it ends, wash, then pray.' 'A'ishah said: She used to wash for every prayer, then pray. She would sit in a large tub belonging to her sister Zaynab bt. Jahsh, until the redness of the blood would rise above the water.
