✧ A Jew from the Jews of Banu Zurayq, called Labid b. al-A'sam, bewitched the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would imagine that he had done something when he had not done it. She said: Until one day - or one night - the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated, then supplicated again, then said, "O Aishah, I have perceived that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has given me a ruling concerning what I asked Him about. Two men came to me; one sat at my head and the other at my feet. The one at my head said to the one at my feet, or the one at my feet said to the one at my head, 'What is the man's ailment?' He said, 'He is bewitched.' He said, 'Who bewitched him?' He said, 'Labid b. al-A'sam.' He said, 'In what?' He said, 'In a comb and hair combings and the spathe of a male date palm.' He said, 'Where is it?' He said, 'In the well of Arwan.'" She said: So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to it with some of his companions, then came back and said, "O Aishah, its water was as if it were the infusion of henna, and its palm trees as if they were heads of devils." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, why did you not burn it?" He said, "No. As for me, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has cured me, and I disliked to stir up evil among the people because of it." She said: So he ordered it to be buried.
