حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ قَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ يَا عَائِشَةُ مَا فَعَلَتِ الذَّهَبُ فَجَاءَتْ مَا بَيْنَ الْخَمْسَةِ إِلَى السَّبْعَةِ أَوِ الثَّمَانِيَةِ أَوِ تِسْعَةِ فَجَعَلَ يُقَلِّبُهَا بِيَدِهِ وَيَقُولُ مَا ظَنُّ مُحَمَّدٍ بِاللهِ ﷻ لَوْ لَقِيَهُ وَهَذِهِ عِنْدَهُ أَنْفِقِيهَا

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said during his final illness: “O Aishah, what happened to the gold?” She brought what was between five and seven, or eight or nine (dinars). He began turning them over in his hand, saying: “What would Muhammad think of God ﷻ, if he met Him while these were still with him? Spend them.”
