حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
دَخَلَتْ عَلَيْهَا يَهُودِيَّةٌ اسْتَوْهَبَتْهَا طِيبًا فَوَهَبَتْ لَهَا عَائِشَةُ فَقَالَتْ أَجَارَكِ اللهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ قَالَتْ فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لِلْقَبْرِ عَذَابًا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَيُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ عَذَابًا تَسْمَعُهُ الْبَهَائِمُ

✧ A Jewish woman entered upon her and begged her for some perfume, and 'A'isha gave it to her. She said: "May God protect you from the punishment of the grave." She ('A'isha) said: That disturbed me until the Messenger of God ﷺ came. She said: I mentioned that to him, saying: "O Messenger of God, is there punishment in the grave?" He said: "Yes, they are punished in their graves with a punishment that the beasts can hear."
