✧ O Allah, feed the one who fed me and give drink to the one who gave me drink. I seized the opportunity of the supplication, so I got up and took the knife, then went to the goats and began feeling them to see which was fattest. My hand did not pass over the udder of any one of them but I found it full of milk. I milked until I filled the bowl, then came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'Drink, O Messenger of Allah.' He raised his head to me and said, 'One of your blunders, O Miqdad. What is the news?' I said, 'Drink, then the news.' So he drank until he was satisfied, then handed it to me, and I drank. He said, 'What is the news?' So I told him. He said, 'This is a blessing that descended from heaven. Why did you not inform me so that we could give our two companions to drink?' I said, 'If the blessing has befallen me and you, I do not care whom it has missed.'
