✧ When 'Ali b. Abi Talib came out from the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during his illness in which he died, the people said, "O Abu al-Hasan, how has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ become this morning?" He said, "He has become, praise be to Allah, recovered." Ibn 'Abbas said: Then 'Abbas b. 'Abd al-Muttalib took him by the hand and said, "Do you not see? By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will die in this illness of his. I recognize the faces of Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib at death. Come with us to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and let us ask him in whose hands this matter will lie. If it is among us, we will know that. And if it is among others, we will speak to him so that he may commend us." 'Ali said, "By Allah, if we ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for it and he denies us, the people will never give it to us. By Allah, I will never ask him for it."
