✧ A man who converted to Islam

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ

أَنَّهُ لُدِغَ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَوْ أَنَّكَ قُلْتَ حِينَ أَمْسَيْتَ: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ، لَمْ تَضُرَّكَ، قَالَ سُهَيْلٌ: فَكَانَ أَبِي إِذَا لُدِغَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَقُولُ: قَالَهَا ؟ فَإِنْ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: كَأَنَّهُ يَرَى أَنَّهَا لَا تَضُرُّهُ

Translation

✧ He was stung by a scorpion, so he mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you had said when evening came: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, it would not have harmed you.' Suhayl said: 'My father, when one of us was stung, would say: Did he say it? If they said yes, he would say: It is as if he thinks it would not harm him.'
