✧ I said to him: "O Abu al-Abbas, what do you think of your statement: 'No man who has not brought a sacrificial animal with him performs Hajj and then circumambulates the House except that he exits ihram with an 'Umrah, and no pilgrim who has brought a sacrificial animal with him circumambulates except that an 'Umrah and a Hajj are combined for him,' while the people do not say this?" He said: "Woe to you! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out with his companions, and they mentioned nothing but Hajj. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded those who did not have sacrificial animals with them to circumambulate the House and exit ihram with an 'Umrah. A man among them would say: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is only Hajj.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would say: 'It is not Hajj; rather, it is an 'Umrah.'"
