حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ يَذْكُرُ فِيهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ، يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَيَصُدُّ هَذَا، وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلَامِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  2. al-Zuhrī
  3. ʿAṭāʾ b. Yazīd
  4. Abū Ayyūb Yadhkur Fīh al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ It is not lawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three nights: they meet, and this one turns away and that one turns away. And the better of them is the one who initiates the greeting.
