✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ one night in Ramaḍān. He stood to pray and when he said the takbīr, he said: Allāhu akbar, Possessor of dominion, might, pride, and greatness. Then he recited al-Baqarah, then al-Nisā’, then Āl ʿImrān. Whenever he came to a verse of warning he paused at it. Then he bowed, saying: Subḥāna rabbiya l-ʿaẓīm, for about as long as he had been standing. Then he raised his head and said: Samiʿa Llāhu liman ḥamidah, rabbanā laka l-ḥamd, for about as long as he had been standing. Then he prostrated, saying: Subḥāna rabbiya l-aʿlā, for about as long as he had been standing. Then he raised his head and said: Rabbi ghfir lī, for about as long as he had been standing. Then he prostrated, saying: Subḥāna rabbiya l-aʿlā, for about as long as he had been standing. Then he raised his head and stood. He prayed only two rakʿahs until Bilāl came and announced the prayer to him.
