✧ Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ

حُذَيْفَةُ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنِ الْخَيْرِ وَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ قِيلَ لِمَ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ مَنْ اتَّقَى الشَّرَّ وَقَعَ فِي الْخَيْرِ

Translation

✧ Hudhayfah said: 'The companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to ask him about the good, but I used to ask him about the evil.' It was said: 'Why did you do that?' He said: 'Whoever guards against evil falls into good.'
