حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى يُحَدِّثُ
أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ اسْتَسْقَى فَأَتَاهُ إِنْسَانٌ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَرَمَاهُ بِهِوَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَنْتَهِيَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَشْرَبَ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ وَقَالَ هُوَ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ
Translation

✧ Hudhayfah asked for a drink, and a person brought him a silver vessel, so he threw it at him and said, “I had forbidden him, but he refused to stop. The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade us to drink from gold and silver vessels, and to wear silk and brocade. He said: ‘These are for them in this world, and for you in the Hereafter.’”
