✧ Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ الْوَلِيدَ أَبَا الْمُغِيرَةِ أَوِ الْمُغِيرَةَ أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي ذَرِبُ اللِّسَانِ وَإِنَّ عَامَّةَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَهْلِي فَقَالَ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ أَوْ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ

Translation

✧ I heard al-Walid Abu al-Mughirah, or al-Mughirah Abu al-Walid, narrate that Hudhayfah said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a sharp tongue, and most of that is against my family.' He said, 'Where are you with seeking forgiveness?' He said, 'I seek forgiveness a hundred times in the day and night, or in the day.'
