✧ Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ فَأَقْبَلَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ

حُذَيْفَةُ إِنَّ أَشْبَهَ النَّاسِ هَدْيًا وَدَلًّا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ حِينِ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ فَلَا أَدْرِي مَا يَصْنَعُ فِي أَهْلِهِ لَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمَ الْمَحْفُوظُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ مِنْ أَقْرَبِهِمْ عِنْدَ اللهِ وَسِيلَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Translation

✧ Ḥudhayfah said: "The closest of people in guidance and manner to the Messenger of God ﷺ, from the time he leaves his house until he returns—though I do not know what he does with his family—is ʿAbd Allāh b. Masʿūd. By God, the memorizers among the companions of Muḥammad ﷺ know that ʿAbd Allāh is among the nearest of them to God in mediation on the Day of Resurrection."
