✧ We were at this enclosure in Basra. He said: A bedouin came with a piece of tanned leather, or a piece of a provision bag, and said: This is a document the Prophet ﷺ wrote for me. Abu al-'Ala' said: I took it and read it to the people. In it was: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a document from Muhammad, the Messenger of God, to the Banu Zuhayr b. Uqaysh: If you establish the prayer, give the zakah, and give from the spoils the fifth and the Prophet's share ﷺ and the selected portion, then you are secure with the security of God and the security of His Messenger. He said: We said: What did you hear from the Messenger of God ﷺ? He said: I heard him say: Fasting the month of patience, and three days of every month, remove the rancor of the chest.
