✧ While I was traveling in al-Ahwāz, suddenly there was a man riding ahead of me on a mule, or a she-mule, and he was saying: 'O Allah, the generation of this ummah to which I belong has passed away, so join me with them.' I said: 'And me too; may I enter into your supplication?' He said: 'And this companion of mine, if he wishes that.' Then he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best of my ummah is my generation, then those who follow them."' He said: 'And I do not know whether he mentioned the third or not. Then generations will come after them in whom obesity will appear, who will pour out testimony without being asked for it.' He said: 'And that man was Buraydah al-Aslamī.'
