حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ قَالَسَأَلْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ عَنِ الْأَنْفَالِ فَقَالَ
سَأَلْتُ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ عَنِ الْأَنْفَالِ، فَقَالَ: فِينَا مَعْشَرَ أَصْحَابِ بَدْرٍ نَزَلَتْ حِينَ اخْتَلَفْنَا فِي النَّفَلِ، وَسَاءَتْ فِيهِ أَخْلَاقُنَا، فَانْتَزَعَهُ اللهُ مِنْ أَيْدِينَا، وَجَعَلَهُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَسَمَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَنْ بَوَاءٍ يَقُولُ: عَلَى السَّوَاءِ

✧ I asked ʿUbādah b. al-Ṣāmit about the anfāl (spoils of war). He said: "It was revealed concerning us, the people of Badr, when we differed over the nafl (extra share) and our conduct became bad regarding it. So God took it from our hands and gave it to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the Messenger of God ﷺ distributed it among the Muslims equally — saying: evenly."
