✧ They used to consider performing ʿumrah during the months of the Hajj to be one of the most wicked acts on earth. They would treat Muḥarram as Ṣafar and say: When the sores on the camels' backs heal, and the tracks are effaced, and Ṣafar comes to an end, then ʿumrah becomes permissible for one who intends it. [When] the Prophet ﷺ and his companions arrived on the morning of the fourth day, announcing the intention for Hajj, he commanded them to make it an ʿumrah. That seemed grave to them, so they said: O Messenger of God, what kind of release from the state of consecration? He replied: Complete release. And in his book: for a morning.
