Thawban, the freed servant of the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ

مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَ دَفْنَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ. قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا الْقِيرَاطَانِ؟ قَالَ: أَصْغَرُهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ

✧ Whoever prays over a funeral will have a qirat, and whoever attends its burial will have two qirats. It was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what are the two qirats?' He said: 'The smaller of them is like Mount Uhud.'
