Thawban, the freed servant of the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيِّ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ

مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْبَقِيعِ فِي ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً خَلَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ بِرَجُلٍ يَحْتَجِمُ، فَقَالَ: أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by al-Baqi' on the eighteenth night of Ramadan past a man being cupped, and said: 'The cupper and the one cupped have broken their fast.'
