حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ قَالَ

اقْرَؤُوا الْقُرْآنَ، فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِصَاحِبِهِ، اقْرَؤُوا الزَّهْرَاوَيْنِ الْبَقَرَةَ وَآلَ عِمْرَانَ، فَإِنَّهُمَا يَأْتِيَانِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كَأَنَّهُمَا غَيَايَتَانِ أَوْ كَأَنَّهُمَا غَمَامَتَانِ، أَوْ كَأَنَّهُمَا فِرْقَانِ مِنْ طَيْرٍ صَوَافَّ يُحَاجَّانِ عَنْ أَصْحَابِهِمَا، اقْرَؤُوا سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَإِنَّ أَخْذَهَا بَرَكَةٌ، وَتَرْكَهَا حَسْرَةٌ، وَلَا تَسْتَطِيعُهَا الْبَطَلَةُ

Translation

✧ Recite the Qurʾān, for it will come as an intercessor on the Day of Resurrection for its companion. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah and Āl ʿImrān, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they were two canopies, or as if they were two clouds, or as if they were two flocks of birds in ranks, arguing on behalf of their companions. Recite Sūrat al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing, leaving it is a regret, and the sorcerers cannot master it.
