✧ When the heads of the Azāriqa were brought and set up on the steps of Damascus, Abū Umāmah came. When he saw them, his eyes teared up. He said: 'Dogs of the Fire' three times. 'These are the worst slain who were killed under the canopy of the sky, and the best slain who were killed under the canopy of the sky are those whom these killed.' He said: I said: 'What is the matter with you that your eyes teared up?' He said: 'Out of mercy for them, for they were from the people of Islam.' He said: We said: 'Did you say "These are dogs of the Fire" based on your own opinion, or is it something you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ?' He said: 'I would be bold indeed; rather, I heard it from the Messenger of God ﷺ not once, not twice, not three times.' He said: Then he counted many times.
