حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
كَانَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْأَسْرَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ فِدَاءٌ، فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِدَاءَهُمْ أَنْ يُعَلِّمُوا أَوْلَادَ الْأَنْصَارِ الْكِتَابَةَ. قَالَ: فَجَاءَ غُلَامٌ يَوْمًا يَبْكِي إِلَى أَبِيهِ، فَقَالَ: مَا شَأْنُكَ ؟ قَالَ: ضَرَبَنِي مُعَلِّمِي. قَالَ: الْخَبِيثُ يَطْلُبُ بِذَحْلِ بَدْرٍ، وَاللهِ لَا تَأْتِيهِ أَبَدًا.

✧ Some of the captives on the day of Badr had no ransom, so the Messenger of God ﷺ made their ransom that they teach the children of the Ansar to write. He said: One day a boy came crying to his father, who said: "What is the matter with you?" He said: "My teacher beat me." He said: "The wicked one seeks revenge for Badr. By God, you will never go to him again."
