✧ "I came to the mosque of the people of Damascus, and there was a circle in which were elderly companions of the Prophet ﷺ and there were young men among them with kohl-lined eyes, with shining blackness. Whenever they differed in something, they would return it to a young lad. I said to a companion sitting next to me, 'Who is this?' He said, 'This is Muadh ibn Jabal.' I came from the evening, but they did not attend. I came again the next morning, but they did not come. I was happy, and suddenly, I saw the young man praying towards a canister. I prayed behind him, and then turned towards him. He greeted, and I approached him and said, 'Indeed, I love you for the sake of Allah.' He said, 'Draw me closer.' He asked, 'How did you say it?' I said, 'Indeed, I love you for the sake of Allah.' He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Those who love each other for the sake of Allah are upon pulpits of light on the Day when there is no shade except His shade.' I left until I met Ubada ibn Samit, and I mentioned to him the hadith of Muadh ibn Jabal. He said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrate from his Lord, 'My love is due to those who love each other for my sake, and My love is due to those who spend on each other for My sake, and My love is due to those who visit each other for My sake. And those who love each other for the sake of Allah are upon pulpits of light on the Day when there is no shade except His shade.'"
