فِي سَنَةِ ثَمَانٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِحَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ

أَنَّهُ لَمَّا رَجَعَ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، رَأَيْتُ رِجَالًا بِالْيَمَنِ يَسْجُدُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ، أَفَلَا نَسْجُدُ لَكَ ؟ قَالَ: لَوْ كُنْتُ آمِرًا بَشَرًا يَسْجُدُ لِبَشَرٍ، لَأَمَرْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِزَوْجِهَا.

Translation

✧ When he returned from Yemen, he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I saw men in Yemen prostrating to one another. Should we not prostrate to you?' He said: 'If I were to command any human to prostrate to another human, I would command the woman to prostrate to her husband.'
