✧ Among our houses there was a deformed, weak man. The people of the dwelling were not alarmed except when he was upon a slave girl of the household, having unlawful intercourse with her. He was a Muslim. Saʿd brought his case to the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said, “Give him his legal punishment.” They said, “O Messenger of God, he is too weak for that; if we strike him a hundred lashes, we will kill him.” He said, “Take a palm branch with a hundred twigs and strike him with it once, and let him go.”
