✧ The Prophet ﷺ seated him behind him from ʿArafah. He said: The people said: Our companion will tell us what he did. He said: Usāmah said: When he departed from ʿArafah, he stopped and reined in the head of his mount until its head touched the middle of the saddle or nearly touched it, signaling to the people with his hand: calm, calm, calm, until he reached Jamʿ. Then he seated al-Faḍl b. ʿAbbās behind him. He said: The people said: Our companion will tell us what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did. Al-Faḍl said: He did not stop traveling at a gentle pace like his pace yesterday, until he came to the valley of Muḥassir, then he urged his mount through it until the ground became level with him.
