حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنِي زَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ حَدَّثَنِي السَّائِبُ بْنُ حُبَيْشٍ الْكَلَاعِيُّ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْيَعْمَرِيِّ قَالَ

قَالَ لِي أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: أَيْنَ مَسْكَنُكَ ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فِي قَرْيَةٍ دُونَ حِمْصَ. قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ فِي قَرْيَةٍ لَا يُؤَذَّنُ وَلَا تُقَامُ فِيهِمُ الصَّلَاةُ، إِلَّا اسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ الشَّيْطَانُ، فَعَلَيْكَ بِالْجَمَاعَةِ فَإِنَّ الذِّئْبَ يَأْكُلُ الْقَاصِيَةَ.

✧ Abu al-Darda' said to me: Where is your residence? He said: I said: In a village before Hims. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: There are no three people in a village in which the call to prayer is not made and the prayer is not established among them, but Satan has gained mastery over them. So upon you is the congregation, for the wolf eats the stray sheep.
