✧ We fasted with the Messenger of God ﷺ Ramadan, and he did not lead us in night prayer for any part of the month, until when it was the night of the twenty-fourth, the Messenger of God ﷺ led us in prayer until nearly a third of the night had passed. When it was the following night, he did not lead us. When it was the night of the twenty-sixth, the Messenger of God ﷺ led us in prayer until nearly half the night had passed. He said: I said, 'O Messenger of God, if only you would let us pray the remainder of this night of ours!' He said, 'No. Indeed, when a man stands with the imam until he finishes, the standing of a whole night is recorded for him.' Then when it was the following night, he did not lead us. Then when it was the night of the twenty-eighth, the Messenger of God ﷺ gathered his family and the people assembled for him, and the Messenger of God ﷺ led us in prayer until we almost missed the falah.' I said, 'And what is the falah?' He said, 'The suhur.' Then he did not lead us, O son of my brother, for any part of the month.
