✧ A man saw a dream and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ, saying: I saw as if a canopy was dripping honey and ghee, and the people were taking from it; some taking much, some taking little, and some in between. And as if a rope was connected to the sky - and Yazīd said once: And as if a rope was let down from the sky - so you came and took hold of it and ascended, and Allah raised you. Then a man came after you and took hold of it and ascended, and Allah raised him. Then a man came after you two and took hold of it and ascended, and Allah raised him. Then a man came after you and took hold of it, and it was cut off, then it was joined for him, and he ascended, and Allah raised him. Abū Bakr said: Permit me, O Messenger of Allah, to interpret it for him! So he permitted him, and he said: As for the canopy, it is Islam; as for the honey and ghee, it is the sweetness of the Qurʾān; some taking much, some taking little, and some in between. As for the rope, it is what you are upon; you ascend and Allah raises you! Then after you will come a man upon your path, and he will ascend and Allah will raise him. Then after you two will come a man who takes hold as you two took hold, and he will ascend, and Allah will raise him. Then after you will come a man for whom it will be cut off, then joined for him, and he will ascend, and Allah will raise him. He said: Did I get it right, O Messenger of Allah? He said: You got some right and some wrong! He said: I adjure you, O Messenger of Allah, to tell me! He said: Do not adjure me.
