حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ وَمِسْعَرٌ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ الْعُرَنِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَدَّمَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُغَيْلِمَةَ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَلَى حُمُرَاتٍ لَنَا مِنْ جَمْعٍ - قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: بِلَيْلٍ - فَجَعَلَ يَلْطَحُ أَفْخَاذَنَا وَيَقُولُ: أَبَنِيَّ، لَا تَرْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ. وَزَادَ سُفْيَانُ: قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: مَا إِخَالُ أَحَدًا يَعْقِلُ يَرْمِي حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ sent us, the young boys of Banū ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, ahead on our donkeys from Muzdalifah — Sufyān said: at night — and he began patting our thighs, saying: “My little sons, do not stone the Jamrah until the sun rises.” Sufyān added: Ibn ʿAbbās said: “I do not think anyone with sense would stone until the sun rises.”
