✧ The Prophet ﷺ was brought Ma'iz b. Malik, a short man in his lower garment, with no cloak on. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ was reclining on a cushion on his left side. He spoke to him, and I do not know what he said to him, as I was far from him with people between me and him. Then he said: 'Take him away.' Then he said: 'Bring him back,' and spoke to him while I could hear. Then he said: 'Take him away and stone him.' Then the Messenger of God ﷺ stood up as a preacher while I could hear him, and said: 'Whenever we go out in the cause of God, one of them stays behind and has a bleating like the bleating of a he-goat, giving one of them a handful of milk. By God, I will not get hold of any of them except that I will make an example of him.'
