حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَ أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ قَالَ
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ مِلْحَانَ حَيْثُ حُضِرَ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ فِي أَقْصَى الدَّارِ، قَالَ: فَأَبْصَرْتُهُ فِي وَجْهِ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: وَكُنْتُ إِذَا رَأَيْتُهُ كَأَنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ الدِّهَانَ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ.

✧ I was with Qatada b. Milhan when he was attended at his deathbed. A man passed at the far end of the house. He said: I saw him in Qatada's face. He said: When I saw him, it was as if there was oil on his face. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had wiped his face.
